CHEERiN' & CHiLLiN'

"Heap on more wood the wind is chill; But let it whistle as it will..."
-Sir Walter Scott

"I'll be lounging on the couch, chillin' in my snuggie, Click on MTV, so they can teach me how to dougie."
-Bruno Mars

"To keep a lamp burning we have to keep putting oil in it."
-Mother Teresa

We did lots of CHEERiN' while CANADA did us proud at the OLYMPICS...
these patriotic mitts kept us from feeling the CHILL!

Brian and I were looking very patriotic after watching the final
GOLD MEDAL Men's Hockey Game last Sunday... here
we are at our Fuddrucker's breakfast!

We were giving a CHEER when our friends JOAN and GERRY
asked us to join them for a great evening out to CHILIE'S for
supper last Saturday night...
I was also CHEERING when Joan suggested we get
dessert and it was super yummy, too!...
a good way to take the CHILL
out of the air!

Here is a split screen of photos of me sandwiched between
two of my favourite Brians!
The top photo is from fall of 2006 and the one below is just last week,
when my dance mentor and good friend,
Brian Foley, came to stay with us for a couple nights.

four generations of ADAPT dancers!!!
ADAPT is the name of the dance exam syllabus created by Brian Foley...
He is still going strong examining world wide!

Brian Foley was in town to do some choreography... but also got a chance
to pop by Jana's shoe store...
SWANK SHOE LOUNGE, too while in town.

The grandkids popped by to see us Thursday night... hard to capture
Beau not in motion... he was on the move, so his pics are blurry!

Mariah created a little journal of their recent trip away, to present to us
seeing as we were un able to join them on their trip like originally planned.
Here are a few of her pages... it is so heart felt and cute!

Mariah loves to dance and perform for us when ever she stops by...
here she is Thursday night creating a little performance for us...
to take the CHILL out of winter!

Here's how we warm up the winter around here...
Mariah's kitchen cartwheels and a little
Beau-lympics right behind!!!
The energy these two shared took the CHILL out of our evening...
and had us all CHEERING!

I had all the wonderful Brians in my life this week...
my brother Brian popped by on Thursday with a couple bagfuls of
treasures he found at a bargain store
especially for us!

Here are the treasures from the two bagfuls of goodies my
Brother Brian shared with us on Thursday...
something to take off the CHILL...
many fun things for us to share with the grandkids...
they will be CHEERING when they see all these fun goodies!

Yesterday I had a full day to enjoy my grandson BEAU... when we had him here
all day. He did lots of fun things from sticker crafts, to Beau-lympics,
to eating on the kitchen matt... and TV as well as many set ups...
a full day from start to finish... it helped to take
the CHILL off our day and had us CHEERING for all the fun!

This last week has been a very CHILLY one for sure... but following our previous two weeks of CHEERING on the OLYMPICS... it helped to warm us up a bit, knowing just how awesome our Canadians did
in their achievements. I also want to mention how I loved the closing ceremonies as well as the events  during the 2014 SOCHI WINTER OLYMPICS.

Even though time is MARCH-ing on...
it seems the weather is still in WINTER mode!
It is always nice to have something to warm up our spirits even though it looks like it will be a considerable wait till spring officially arrives here.

I really enjoyed our visit from long time friend and dance mentor, Brian Foley from Toronto. He was in town for some choreography at a local dance studio and requested staying at our home during his stay. He always stayed with us back in my studio days... when ever he came to town to do a workshop, some choreography or his ADAPT tap and jazz exams for not only my studio, but for many of the competitive dance studios in the city as well. Our memories go way back...and so we had some fun laughs and a trip down memory lane with his visit this past week.

I have been having one on one visits from the grandkids this past month and find it is so much fun to zoom in on one at a time and get to their level of entertainment and fun. We had a BEAU day yesterday and loved every minute of it!

The kids just stopped in now after Mariah's mock ballet exam this morning... so they had a wee visit on route home again. We always enjoy seeing them... they do take away the CHILL of winter!

Yesterday we had a nice phone call from my son, Colin who has now returned back to Montreal following his Thailand adventure of the past two months. He had a life changing holiday... which he absolutely loved... he talked to us for over an hour on the phone and normally he only chats for around 10 minutes! He said it was hard to adjust to the CHILL in the air after being in perfect weather for two months. He mentioned he might come home for a visit within the next while... he is anxious to connect with us once again.
We are CHEERING about that... as we enjoy any times we can connect with him!

This morning we were out for our weekly breakfast with friends, Jacquie and Bob, and his son, Danny.
Bob just had a birthday on Friday as well... so it was a mini celebration of that today!

Later today we will greet our friends, Vern and Ella when they return from Hawaii... I know they will be feeling the CHILL in the air... but we are both CHEERING that they will be home again... we missed our little get togethers while they were gone. Ella had a birthday yesterday, too... so I imagine we will be celebrating that this week at some point as well.

Tonight we will tune into the OSCARS... there will be lots of CHEERING during that show too as all the movie stars gather together for the most glamorous night in Hollywood. I have not seen any of the movies in the running... but enjoy the show none the less, and love Ellen DeGeneres, who will once again be hosting the show. It will be a good way to take the CHILL out of this evening as we snuggle up and watch on our cozy couch!

I have been tuning into the competition TV musical shows... American Idol and The Voice... and soon Dancing With The Stars will begin too. Lots to warm me up and keep me cheering through  the rest of the winter.

Now that we are into MARCH... we have hopes spring is not far off in the distance... and on that note here is my rhyme of the day...

The winter has certainly had it's big chill,
But watching the Olympics brought a bit thrill.
Lots to cheer on and be proud about,
From the athletes to all of the fans there's no doubt.
Although the weather's been chilly this year,
I'm grateful for all of those ones oh so dear,
To stay connected when the chill's in the air,
And making us cheer when the sun comes out there!
