*After a few days at WASKESIU LAKE with family... this blog post will have an overload of photos!!!* ... ENJOY!!!
(I took 285 pics in all, so had a hard time narrowing my selection down to the ones here!)

Mariah pulling me toward the beach to build sand castles
and play catch with the smiley beach ball.
It was a bit cloudy at 3 PM when we arrived at Waskesiu Thursday.

On route back to the hotel after day one at the beach!

A little hot tub fun in the evening.
the hot tub was located on the roof top of the hotel.

Mariah's little friends were adorable little sisters from Regina...
3 year old LILLY and 5 year old ISABELLA.
They played happily together for hours on the beach.
(Here they are warming up after a dip in the lake!)

Mariah met up with friends Lilly and Isabella again later by the stores,
and they had another great little play together.

Beau playing in his own little private hot tub... made by Mariah and her daddy!
Beau is a real little water baby... he loved it!!!

Brian and I took Mariah for a special little trip to WASKESIU LAKE last thursday. She was truly treated like a little princess and she was such a little angel for us. We had fun on the beach, eating out, going to the hot tub, doing crafts, shopping for special treats, and even hearing some jazz and dancing. We were treated to some nice free jazz music in the lobby of our hotel  on our first night played by some of our Saskatoon favorites...
MAURICE DROUIN and
singer HEIDI MUNROE.
Mariah and I even danced a little...
but didn't have the camera for that!!!

Day 2 we spent a lot of time on the beach and in the playground. Mariah met a couple cute little girlfriends whom she hit it off with so well. They played and played for hours! Mariah did not want to join her Grandpa in the boat that day because she was having too much fun building sand castles and water dams with her new found friends!!!

Brian took the boat out on his own that day...
it was a good boating day... but he scratched the boat, so was a little disappointed about that.

Later we met up with the new found friends again by the stores and they played some more!

Friday night Jana, Nels and Beau arrived at around 11 PM and picked up Mariah
(who was sound asleep after her busy two days)... and moved her over to the cabin where they would be staying.

Day 3 we spent lots more time on the beach playing, and eating out... lots of yummy snacks, etc. Then we went on a long boat ride... the ride was very choppy... but we had the kids in their life jackets and Beau fell asleep and he slept the whole ride! I was happy to return to shore after the ride in the boat.

Jana treated us to a hot dog lunch at their cabin for lunch that day and also treated us to supper at PETE'S PLACE... one of the yummy restaurants in Waskesiu.
We ran into my nephew, Jeff there, too!

Yesterday Brian and I enjoyed the lovely sunday buffet in our hotel and met up with Jana, Nels and kids for a stroll by the shops followed by one more brief trip to the beach before
Brian and I headed home.

Jana, Nels and kids are still at the lake and will enjoy a few more days there
on their little family vacay.

I am always very happy to return home after a little get away. It is nice to go on a holiday but for me I find it just as nice to get home again in the end. There is just no place like home.

I got sad news via email from my Auntie Phyllis upon my return home. My Aunt FRANCES, who we referred to as our "Auntie FRANKIE"
growing up, had passed away yesterday.
In my mom's family there were 4 girls and one boy. The boy(My Uncle Bob)... passed away many years ago, but my mom and her two sisters, Jean and Frances have all passed away within less than a year. Although they were at that stage of their lives, I feel sad knowing my one remaining Auntie in the family lost all her sisters in such a short time.
I will dedicate my next blog to my dear
Auntie Frankie.... she was one of the sweetest ladies I ever knew.

My seize the day calendar says this today...

"Remember this -
very little is needed to make a happy life."
-Marcus Aurelius

...and on that note...
here is my poem for the day...

There's something special about the beach...
That when in the city is out of our reach.
Waves of water splashing by...
Sand spread for miles... my oh my!
Eating junk food all day long...
While at the beach seems not so wrong!
Building castles in the sand,
Walking on the beach hand in hand.
Eating ice cream cones by the day,
Catching every single ray...
Soaking up each day of sun,
Taking boat rides, having fun.
Meeting new friends by the swings,
Makes each day pull on heartstrings.
Life at the lake is a fun place to roam,
But for me... nothing's better
than coming back home!
